A MAN is recovering in hospital after he was shot in west Dublin last night. Gardaí believe the shooting is linked to a gun attack at a pub in Finglas, Dublin, early on Sunday.
The victims of last night’s and Sunday night’s shootings are father and son.
The younger man has been shot twice in the past two months by criminals with whom he has become embroiled in a bitter personal dispute.
Gardaí believe the man’s father was shot last night by the same men who shot his son on Sunday morning and in another attack in November.
In last night’s incident, gardaí received an emergency call at about 8pm from a man who told them he had just been shot. When gardaí and an ambulance went to the address at Casement Park, Finglas, they found a man with gunshot wounds to the arm and upper body.
It is understood he was shot when he went to answer a caller at the hall door of the house.
The wounded man, a middle-aged Dubliner, was taken by ambulance to James Connolly Memorial Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
The man’s son was taken to the same hospital suffering from wounds he sustained in a gun attack in a Finglas pub at around 12.30am on Sunday.
The victim, who is in his mid-20s and from Finglas, was drinking in the Finglas Inn, also known as the Cappagh House, on Cappagh Road, when two masked men walked in and singled him out.
One of the men fired at least one shot from a sawn-off shotgun. The victim was sprayed with pellets from the shot but was not seriously injured.
In a follow-up search, gardaí found clothing and a shotgun in the garden of a house close to the pub.
It is believed the items were discarded by the attackers as they ran from the scene.
The same man was wounded in a related gun attack in the car park of the same pub in November.
