A man in his 30s was shot dead today on farmland in Kilkenny.
Gardai said the attack took place at around 11am in fields near the townland of Coolyhune outside Graigenamanagh. A garda technical team is at the scene and has sealed off the area.
It is understood officers are conducting door-to-door inquiries. State Pathologist Marie Cassidy has been notified and is due to travel to the scene for initial investigations.
A post mortem is expected to be carried out later.
