A man was shot dead in Belfast city centre on Thursday evening. The gun attack happened at College Square North just before 9.30pm.
The victim has been named locally as Christopher Mackin (32) from west Belfast. It is thought he was visiting his mother. The street where the attack took place is mostly residential but close to the busy Great Victoria Street area, with pubs, hotels and the city’s Grand Opera House all nearby.
