Man's nose bitten off in Bray attack

A man had his nose bitten off in a violent attack in a fast food restaurant in Bray, Co Wicklow, yesterday.

A man had his nose bitten off in a violent attack in a fast food restaurant in Bray, Co Wicklow, yesterday.

The attack took place at 1.30 a.m.

Two men who had earlier been drinking at a nearby pub became involved in a dispute and one man bit off the other's nose, gardai said.

The attacker ran from the restaurant. A man was arrested a short time later by gardai.

He was questioned before being released and a file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The victim was taken to St Colmcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown. His nose had been recovered and put in ice by a member of the restaurant staff.

The victim was due to have surgery last night after being transferred to St James' Hospital, Dublin.
