Man's body recovered from Lough Derg

The body of a man (32) who fell from a boat on Lough Derg last Saturday has been recovered.

The body of a man (32) who fell from a boat on Lough Derg last Saturday has been recovered.

Rescue teams from Tipperary, Clare and Limerick had been searching for the man since then.  A body was found by local fishermen at around 7am this morning and has been identified as the missing man, gardaí said.

The man is believed to have been with a group on a pleasure cruise boat on Lough Derg on Saturday. He was reported to have fallen from the boat into the lake, a few miles from Killaloe.

Garda divers, the Lough Derg lifeboat, Shannon Coastguard helicopter and other rescue units were involved in the search.

It is believed the man, who has not been officially named, is from south Tipperary.
