Antalya - Turkish rescuers pulled a man alive from the chilly Mediterranean surf yesterday, over 24 hours after a cargo ship with some 70 suspected illegal immigrants on board hit rocks and split in two off the south coast. "He appears to be of Bangladeshi or Pakistani origin," a navy official said as the man was taken to hospital.

At least six people died and 30 were rescued on Monday when the Georgian-registered ship Pati, bound for Greece ran onto rocks on Turkey's Mediterranean coast.
