A man was remanded in custody today after being charged with the murder of a
pensioner in Co Antrim.
Mr John Graham (64) from Shandon Park in Ballymoney appeared at Larne Magistrates Court accused of killing 71-year-old James Rodgers on Monday night.
A PSNI detective inspector told the court that when the charge was put to the accused at Coleraine police station last night he made no reply.
The police officer said he believed he could connect him to the charges.
Mr Rodgers, who was also from Shandon Park in the north Antrim town, died after suffering blows to the head. He was discovered in a neighbouring house.
Police said a number of people were in the house where it is believed Mr Rodgers had been drinking shortly before his death.
The defendant was remanded in custody to appear again by video link at North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine on March 21st.
