A man who was detained by gardai investigating the rape of a 16-year-old girl in Carrigtwohill, Co Cork, has been released and a file has been sent to the DPP.

The victim was walking home along the main street of the village shortly after midnight on Good Friday when the attack occurred. She was dragged down a laneway and subjected to a vicious assault and rape.
