Man pleads guilty to manslaughter

A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a New Year's Eve party in the Gaoth Dobhair Gaeltacht.

A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a New Year's Eve party in the Gaoth Dobhair Gaeltacht.

Brian McBride (31), of Carrickaskin, Doiri Beaga, Co Donegal, admitted unlawfully killing Michael Kerr (52), of Omagh, Co Tyrone, at Doiri Beaga on January 1st, 1999.

McBride pleaded guilty after a jury was sworn in at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Patrick McCartan discharged the jury and said he would sentence McBride on January 30th.
