A prosecution lawyer said 150 rioters attacked police at Cambrai Street on Thursday night, hurling petrol bombs, rocks and fireworks.

She was opposing bail for Mr John Weir (17), from Ambelside Street, Belfast, who was charged with riotous behaviour and assaulting four RUC officers.

Mr Weir was released on bail of £750, ordered to stay in his home from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and to report to police three times a week.
