A 37-year-old man appeared in court tonight charged with the brutal murder of a woman who was stabbed to death and dumped in a Co Antrim river.
Mr Paul Andrew McCleary, of Rosevale Meadows in Lisburn, Co Antrim, was remanded in custody until April 8th when he appeared at a special sitting of the city's magistrates' court charged with the murder of Sharon Moore.
The body of the 30-year-old woman was tossed into the River Lagan from a bridge after she had been stabbed to death.
Horrified security guards monitoring CCTV cameras at a nearby civic centre alerted police after they saw her body drop from the Queen's Bridge.
Police divers recovered the body on Monday and a post-mortem examination the following day revealed she had died from stab wounds to the chest.
Ms Moore lived alone in a flat at Seymour Hill in Dunmurry, just a few miles from where her body was found. During the eight-minute court hearing a detective sergeant said that when charged Mr McCleary made no reply.
