Louisiana - One man was killed and three children wounded yesterday in a shooting during a parade honoring civil rights campaigner, the late Rev Martin Luther King. The shooting occurred when participants in the march had an argument, a police spokesman said. "There was fighting and someone pulled out a gun and started firing," he said.
Witnesses said "mass pandemonium" broke out after the shooting as parade participants and spectators ran for cover. The police have ruled out racial motivation in the incident because both shooter and victims were black. The wounded included two girls, ages seven and 11, who were in critical and serious condition, respectively, and a nine-year-old boy who was in stable condition.
