The man killed in a road accident outside Carlow town yesterday morning has been named by local gardai as Mr Donal Corcoran (49), of Ballybromill, Fenagh, Co Carlow.

Mr Corcoran was a front-seat passenger in a car being driven by his teenage son, Trevor, when the vehicle collided with a lorry at Rathcrogue at about 9 a.m. Mr Corcoran Jnr was removed to St Luke's County Hospital in Kilkenny with multiple injuries. His condition is comfortable. The lorry driver was uninjured, but shocked.
