A man in his 50s was killed in Foxford, Co Mayo, yesterday after he was struck by a train which had left Ballina
Emergency services were alerted at around 7pm last night following the incident which occurred on the Ballina to Manulla Junction.
The man was rushed to Mayo General Hospital but was dead on arrival, according to local sources.
Gardaí did not name the man, but he was identified locally as a businessman based in the Ballina area.
