An elderly man was found dead in a car that had crashed into a canal early this morning.
The car was discovered by a passer-by at 8 a.m. at near Rhode, Co Offaly. The body of the man was taken to Tullamore General Hospital where the examination will take place today.
No other vehicles were discovered at the scene, according to a Garda spokesman. He said the dead man was yet to be identified.
