A Cork man pleaded guilty in the Cork Circuit Criminal Court yesterday to four charges of drug dealing last September Chris Kirby (20), of St Colman's Park, Macroom, Co Cork, had ecstasy, LSD, speed and hash when apprehended, the court was told.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison by Judge A.G. Murphy.
Garda Denis Keane told the court there was considerable concern about drug dealing in Macroom. As a result Kirby was placed under surveillance and was caught selling drugs in Dunmanway.
He admitted he had sold drugs worth £200 before being caught. He said he owed drug dealers in Cork city £1,600 and was given only a short time to pay them back.
Mr Sean O Donnabhain, defending, said Kirby was a victim himself and after he was caught, attempted to commit suicide by taking an overdose.
