A Dublin man who raped one schoolgirl and sexually assaulted another at knifepoint has been jailed for 10 years by Mr Justice Carney at the Central Criminal Court.

Neil Kinsella (25), Oakwood Grove, Clondalkin, was detected through DNA analysis of semen samples recovered at the scenes.

He pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl on January 12th, 1999, and to raping a 12-year-old girl on March 16th, 1999. Both crimes occurred in Clondalkin.

The court heard Kinsella had attempted suicide while in custody and was removed to the Central Mental Hospital where he underwent psychotherapy for some months. The CMH is now discharging him back into the prison system.
