A man pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 12 year old and to having unlawful carnal knowledge of her last July.
The man, who cannot be named, was jailed for four years at Cork Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.
The court was told that he met the girl on the first occasion in a graveyard. He kissed her on the face and neck, put his hand down her trousers and assaulted her.
On another occasion he took her to his bedroom where he had sex with her.
In his defence, the court heard that the man, from Cork, had chronic alcohol problems and thought the girl was older.
