A 24 year old man was found hanged in his cell in Maghaberry Prison near Lisburn on Sunday morning

A 24 year old man was found hanged in his cell in Maghaberry Prison near Lisburn on Sunday morning. The remand prisoner from Belfast had been accused of public order offences and throwing petrol bombs during recent street disturbances.

The Northern Ireland Prison Service said the man's relatives and the coroner's office had been informed of the death.

Police are carrying out an investigation.
