A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg in the early hours of this morning at Ely Drive, Allenton in Tallaght.
The man is currently being treated in Tallaght hospital.
Gardaí investigating later stopped a car in the Allenton area and recovered a semi automatic handgun and ammunition.
A 26-year-old man was arrested. In a seperate development gardaí also arrested a 24-year-old woman. Both are being held in Tallaght Garda station under the provisions of the Section 30 Offences Against the State Act.
The firearm and ammunition have been removed to Garda Headquarters for Ballistic examination br Garda experts.
