Gardaí are seeking a man in west Cork following a shooting in which a man (50) was beaten around the head and face before being shot.
The shooting happened at a house in Toormore near Schull in west Cork at around 7.30 last night.
Gardaí were called to the scene and surrounded the house though it wasn't clear last night if the attacker was still in the building or whether he had fled the scene armed with the rifle.
The injured man taken to Bantry General Hospital and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
