A man will appear at Belmarsh Magistrates Court, London, this morning to face charges relating to the mortar attack on Heathrow Airport in March 1994, writes Rachel Donnelly, from London.
Mr Michael Anthony Gallagher (50), was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), at an address in Earls Court, London, last week. Mr Gallagher is being charged with membership of the Provisional IRA on or before November 28th, 1996, at Warwick Road, north east London.
In addition, he is charged with providing a lock up garage and a car to a proscribed organisation between February 17th, 1994 and May 4th, 1994.
The third charge states that on or before March 16th, 1994, he unlawfully and maliciously conspired with a person or persons unknown to cause an explosion "likely to endanger life or cause serious damage" to property.
