A man has appeared in court in the North charged with assaulting an off-duty prison officer and his wife in County Antrim.
The accused, named by police as Neil Hawkins, 34, of Islandmagee Road, Whitehead, was charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent.
The 48-year-old victim was walking along the Slaughterford Road near Whitehead Co.
Antrim shortly after 1am yesterday when he was attacked. His wife, 44, was also injured.
