Man held over seizure of weapons, heroin

A man (36) is being held after gardaí seized heroin and guns and ammunition during a raid on a house in Clondalkin, Co Dublin.

During yesterday's raid, gardaí found an automatic shotgun, shotgun cartridges, a flare gun, bullets, a bayonet, three large vessels containing heroin, two electronic scales, mobile phones and a number of passports.

A rifle and a silencer were also found.

The kilogram of heroin is estimated by gardaí to be worth €190,000.

The man is being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act in Ballyfermot Garda station. He can be held for a maximum of 72 hours before being charged or released.
