Man held over Foley shooting released

A man being questioned in connection with the shooting of Dublin criminal Martin Foley has been released from Garda custody.

A man being questioned in connection with the shooting of Dublin criminal Martin Foley has been released from Garda custody.

Mr Foley (55), known as "the Viper", was shot as he drove his car out of a gym in Kimmage, south Dublin, in January.

He survived the attack and reportedly called out the name of his attacker at the scene.

Gardai arrested a man at a house in Ballyfermot at 7am yesterday.

The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to Crumlin Garda station for questioning under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

A Garda spokesman said the man was released at 7am this morning and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
