Gardaí are continuing to question a man arrested yesterday over a tiger kidnapping in which a bank employee was told via phone in her Dublin workplace that her boyfriend was being held hostage.
The 22-year-old woman was told to take money from the bank where she worked and leave it near a Broombridge station in Cabra, north Dublin or her partner (26) would be harmed by the armed gang holding him.
However, members of the public saw the woman dropping off the bag of cash near the rail line and rang gardaí. When detectives went to investigate, they found the bag containing some €370,000 in cash and arrested a man whom they believe was about to collect it.
The suspect, in his early 20s and from Cabra, is being held at Mountjoy Garda station under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, and can be held for seven days without charge.
Gardaí are searching for the other gang members.
