A man being questioned over killing of 22-year-old Johathan Stewart in Belfast on Friday faces separate charges in relation to terrorism offences, police said this morning.

A PSNI spokeswoman said the 64-year-old, who was arrested on Sunday, was released without charge this morning. However, a file would be sent to the DPP with a view to prosecution for terrorism-related offences, she added.

Mr Stewart was shot and killed at a house in north Belfast at 7.30 on Friday morning in an attack linked to a feud within the loyalist Ulster Defence Association.

A gunman forced his way into the house and singled out Mr Stewart during the attack. Mr Stewart is the nephew of a well known loyalist in the north Belfast area.

Meanwhile, police have been granted a 48-hour extension to the detention of a 23-year-old man who was also being questioned about the killing, to "enable further inquiries".
