Man held in relation to Meath stabbing

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing which occurred in Ashbourne, Co Meath on Wednesday.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing which occurred in Ashbourne, Co Meath on Wednesday.

The man, who is from the Ashbourne area, is being held at Balbriggan Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, for withholding information.

Barry Maguire (23), who was from the Milltown estate where the incident occurred, was found collapsed in the roadway of the estate by gardaí, who were responding to a phone call about a dispute there at about 4.15am.

Mr Maguire was taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he died a short time later.
