Man held in Limerick over handgun

A man (20) who was arrested in Limerick city yesterday afternoon carrying a loaded pistol is being questioned this morning.

A man (20) who was arrested in Limerick city yesterday afternoon carrying a loaded pistol is being questioned this morning.

Two gardaí in the Aspen Gardens of Limerick city noticed the man acting suspiciously at around 1.00pm. They chased the man and caught him a short distance away.

He was found to have the loaded handgun and a small amount of ammunition, a Garda spokesman said.

He was arrested and is now being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
