A man is to appear before a Derry court today in connection with the alleged collection of information likely to have been of use to terrorists.

The man was detained after a suspicious device was found outside a house in Magherafelt. The device was later found to be a hoax.

Elsewhere, there were disturbances in east Belfast overnight when a number of petrol bombs were thrown at police in the Dunlady Road area of the city. No injuries were reported.
