Gardaí in Co Longford are seeking witnesses to a fatal collision which happened near Granard earlier today.
A man in his 70s died in the two car crash on the N55 Ballymahon to Edgeworthstown road at Carrickboy. The collision took place at 4.30pm.
A woman (46), who was travelling in the other car, was taken to Mullingar hospital following the crash. Her injuries were not life-threatening. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
A section of the N55 was closed for a period tonight while a Garda forensic team examined the scene of the crash. The road has since re-opened.
