An elderly has died in a house fire in Galway city.
The incident happened at about 3am this morning when a fire broke out at the house in Clareview Park in Ballybane.
Two units of Galway Fire Services fought the fire.
A man in his 70s was pronouced dead at the scene. No one else was in the house at the time of the blaze.
The scene is being preserved while a technical examination is carried out.
