Man dies in early morning crash in Roscommon

A 40-year-old man died early this morning when the car his was driving hit a ditch in Co Roscommon.

A 40-year-old man died early this morning when the car his was driving hit a ditch in Co Roscommon.

The crash happened in Corlis, Castlerea at 3.10am. No other vehicles were involved and the man was travelling alone.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Roscommon Hospital for a post mortem.

So far this year 390 people have died on the State's roads. The is 16 more than the total for 2004, with two weeks left in December. This year has seen the most deaths on our roads since 2001.
