A man has died in a fire in Dublin early today.

A man has died in a fire in Dublin early today.

Four others were rescued from the building by two gardaí at St Joseph’s Avenue in Drumcondra.

Gardaí said smoke was seen coming from a property at about 4.30am and the officers broke into the building. Four men asleep in a downstairs flat were woken and led to safety.

The Fire Brigade was called to tackle the blaze in an upstairs flat, where the body of a man in his 20s was found. His remains have been removed to the city morgue and the scene has been sealed off for a forensic examination.
