A man in his 50s has died following a road crash in Co Donegal this morning.

The man was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a bus on the Ballybofey to Donegal Road near Barnesmore Gap at around 8.30am.

He was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

One occupant of the bus, which is understood to have been carrying about 20 people, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The stretch of road is currently closed while garda forensic collision investigators conduct an examination.
