Man dies in Co Monaghan welding explosion

A 28-year-old man has been killed in Co Monaghan when a car transporter which he was welding exploded.

A 28-year-old man has been killed in Co Monaghan when a car transporter which he was welding exploded.

The explosion happened at Broomfield, Co Monaghan, midway between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney and close to the border with south Armagh.

Another man, understood to be in his 50's, was seriously injured and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
