A man has died following a road accident in Clara, Co Offaly, at the weekend. Tommy Dolan, from Clara, was a former chairman of Offaly County Council.
Mr Dolan, who was 70, was driving one of two cars that collided in Aughamore at around 10 p.m. on Saturday. After the accident, he left his car and, accompanied by a passer-by, went to seek medical assistance for the woman driver of the other vehicle.
When he reached a nearby house, he collapsed and died. The woman received treatment for back injuries at Tullamore General Hospital and was discharged yesterday.
