Man dies after Lisburn stabbing

A man, Mr Robert McNeice (51), from Mount Royal, Lisburn, has died in hospital following a stabbing outside his Co Antrim public house yesterday morning.

The incident happened at 1.30 a.m. at the County Down Arms on the Hillhall Road, Lisburn. A police spokesman said a man had been arrested. The stabbing is not thought to have been sectarian.

Meanwhile, two men were treated in hospital following separate attacks in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast on Saturday evening. A 26-year-old man was shot in both ankles and wrists off Elmfield Street. The incident took place shortly after 7 p.m. A 43-year-old man was attacked by two men at the rear of Torrens Drive. He suffered injuries to his head and legs. This attack also took place shortly after 7 p.m.
