A building worker trying to cross a motorway to make a phone call was killed by a car on the by pass, Dublin, near the Deadman's Inn, an inquest was told yesterday.

Mr Edward Costello (48), of Collinstown Grove, Clondalkin, was on his way home on November 16th when he asked to be dropped off near the pub so he could phone home. He was later hit by an oncoming vehicle.

Dr Brian Farrell, the Dublin City Coroner, accepted a jury verdict of accidental death.
