A 19-year-old Dublin man denied the murder of an elderly widow in 1998 when he faced trial yesterday. Mr Richard Kearney, Finglas Place, Finglas village, pleaded not guilty to the murder of 72-year-old widow Ms Mary Dillon, at her home at Beneavin Road, Dublin, in November 1998.

A jury was sworn in, but after legal argument Mr Justice Smith sent the jurors away until this morning, when the trial will begin if unspecified technical issues are resolved.
