A MAN previously declared insane by a murder trial jury has admitted sexually assaulting a 13 year old boy in the midlands on three occasions in 1992.

Mr Barry White SC, defending, told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that his client, aged 30, had spent time in the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum. Mr White asked that the Dundrum doctors prepare a report.

Judge Michael Moriarty also requested a probation report on the man and a victim impact statement on the now 17 year old victim. The judge further imposed reporting restrictions.

Mr Shane Murphy, prosecuting, said there was no Garda objection to the court granting continuing bail to the May 1st sentence hearing.
