Gardaí seeking witnesses to an assault in Co Westmeath in the early hours of this morning which left a man in his forties in a critical condition in hospital with head injuries.
The attack happened outside St Lomans GAA club which was hosting a 21 stparty on Devlin Road in Mullingar between 1.30 and 2am.
The victim (41) has been transferred to Beaumont Dublin where he is in intensive care.
Gardaí say they are following definite lines of inquiry and have appealed for anyone outside the GAA club at the time of the assault to come forward.
