Man critical after Belfast knife attack

A man (22) was fighting for his life today after being stabbed in Belfast city centre.

A man (22) was fighting for his life today after being stabbed in Belfast city centre.

The man was among a group of four men attacked by a gang near a bank on Donegall Square West just before 1.30am.

He was taken to hospital where police said his condition was critical. No motive for the attack was established by investigating detectives.

But they want to speak to two women who stopped to give first aid to the injured man.

Police have also urged other witnesses to the stabbing, or anyone with information, to contact officers at Musgrave Street station on 0845 6008000.
