A 22-year-old man appeared before a special court sitting tonight charged in connection with the vandalism of an American military aircraft at Shannon Airport.

Mr Eoin Dubsky, from Gorey, Co Wexford, faced Gort District Court charged with causing criminal damage to the Hercules C130 transit aircraft which was daubed with anti-war slogans this morning.

Police opposed bail saying they believed he would commit further offences.

Judge Joseph Mangan released Dubsky on €200 bail on condition that he did not go within five miles of Shannon Airport or its perimeter. If he breaches the terms he faces a jail sentence.
