A Co Down man was remanded in custody with consent to bail yesterday on charges related to the armed raid on the Bank of Ireland in Dunleer, Co Louth last Friday. He is Mr Gareth McKeown, aged 31, of Mount Pleasant, Newry.

Garda Insp Gerry O'Brien objected to a bail application by solicitor Mr James MacGuill.

Judge John Brophy said he was remanding him in custody with consent to bail on his own bond of £75,000 and an independent surety of £75,000 or cash in lieu, to appear before Navan District Court again next Wednesday.
