Man charged over Limerick death

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a Polish national who died in a house in Limerick last weekend.

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a Polish national who died in a house in Limerick last weekend.

Waldemar Mateja (25) a Poland national with an address at Castletroy, Limerick, was charged with causing serious harm to Dariusz Wiskowski (19) the Hawthorns, Briarfield, Castletroy on April 9th.

Mr Wiskowski died at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick last Monday morning several hours after he was found at the house with serious head injuries.

Four men and one woman, all Lithuanian or Polish nationals, were arrested in connection with the 26-year-old's death. The remaining people in custody have all been released.

Mr Mateja replied "No" when he was formally charged. He was remanded in custody until April 18th.
