A cleaner was charged by British police today over an attempt to cut the water supply to illusionist David Blaine.
The US magician is trying to spend 44 days without food in a glass box suspended beside the River Thames in central London.
Mr Stephen Field (38), was charged with using threatening behaviour and causing criminal damage.
He was alleged to have climbed nearby scaffolding early yesterday morning and tried to cut through water pipes and power cables attached to the box. He climbed down after about 30 minutes.
Londoners have come not to praise but to mock Blaine after he started his stunt in a blaze of publicity.
Since the 30-year-old New Yorker began his isolation challenge 10 days ago, he has been pelted with eggs, had golf balls driven at him, been taunted by topless women and endured the jibes of late-night revellers, many gleefully waving hamburgers at him.
Blaine's previous stunts include being buried alive for a week and being encased in a block of ice for three days.
