A man (42) has been arrested in relation to the murder of Stephen O’Meara, whose body was found in Co Wicklow on Christmas Eve.

The man was arrested in Gorey, Co Wexford at approximately 11.30am this morning.

He is currently detained at Bray Garda Station under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Father-of-three O’Meara had disappeared on the evening of August 6th from near his home in Wicklow town. He had told his partner he was going to meet someone and that he would be back within an hour. He was never seen alive again.

His remains were found in a wooded area at Ballydonnell near Red Cross in Co Wicklow, about 20km from his home, on Christmas Eve.
