A man was arrested and escorted off a plane in Britain after he claimed he was carrying a bomb in his bag, English police have said.
Durham Police said the 23-year-old man was arrested shortly after boarding a bmi aircraft at Teesside Airport.
The Heathrow-bound flight was allowed to continue after the claim was investigated and found to be false.
Airport officials said there was a slight delay while the hoax was investigated at around midday.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "The man was arrested by special branch officers at Teesside Airport after claiming he was carrying a bomb in his bag.
"He was interviewed and charged with causing harassment, alarm and distress. He will appear before South Durham Magistrates on November 26." A spokesman for Teesside Airport said: "We take these things very seriously."
