Man arrested over NI murder

A man was arrested today in connection with a murder in Northern Ireland 36 years ago.

A man was arrested today in connection with a murder in Northern Ireland 36 years ago.

He was detained in south Belfast, not far from Derriaghy where William Palmer (50), a Protestant, was shot at his Milltown Road home in June 1976. He died three days later in hospital.

The man (55) was detained on suspicion of murder, possessing a firearm and membership of the IRA.

He was taken to the serious crime suite at Antrim police station for questioning.
